I’m sure that we’re all WELL into our New Year’s Resolutions, and if upping your Style Status was on your list, I’ve got the GLAM GAL for you… meet Chantay Lewis.
Founded in November 2015, Chantay runs Chantay’s Personal Touch, an exclusive Personal Styling consulting company providing wardrobe and closet styling plus personal shopping services.
I’ve always had a love for fashion. As a ‘stylist undercover,’ I’ve given friends, co-workers, family members, and even random department store customers fashion advice.”
In a previous position, Chantay worked in HR at Neiman Marcus. A fashion girl’s dream, she was continuously in awe of all the beautiful clothing and displays. She knew then that there was an inner compass directing her towards her true purpose – to add a personal touch to women’s lives and empower them to be their best selves through fashion and style.
Chantay’s latest project involved hosting a Fall Style Event and Fashion Show at The Limited in the Galleria. Showcasing her styling talents, Chantay was able to promote her business and experience some significant growth.
However, that’s not a typical day for Chantay. Rising around 6am with a devotion to set the tone for the day, Chantay’s “day job” is in HR for a healthcare company. But she really comes alive at night and on weekends with her clients for Chantay’s Personal Touch, proving that sometimes the best way to start a business is through a “side hustle.” She’s very excited about an upcoming Style Event for the Summer season.
Please stay tuned to my website for more details on the Summer Style event, and I’ll also be hosting an annual style show this spring where a percentage of the proceeds will go to a charity that supports women’s personal growth. I’ll be conducting a Dress-For-Success workshop through local businesses and corporations helping participants discover the benefits of presenting themselves professionally in the workplace.”
With a plan to acquire a certification in Personal Styling this summer, Chantay continues to expand her reach in the local area as a fashion consultant and Spring/Summer is one of her favorite seasons. Top trends she’s seeing are:
- Rainbow Bright Colors
- 50 Shades of Yellow
- Utilitarianism, Military, Safari in Every Shade of Khaki
- Bell and Tulip Sleeves
- Block Heels
- Over-the-top Earrings
Launching her Chantay’s Personal Touch business has been one of her greatest challenges and fulfillments and Chantay has been fearless in pursuing her fashion passion. Her advice for anyone looking to start a business? Find a mentor! Someone in your industry you can learn from. Yes, hard work pays off, but don’t compare yourself to others and don’t try to “reinvent the wheel.” Stay true to yourself and network, network, NETWORK! (always in an amazing outfit, of course!)
Your favorite virtue. Kindness. You never know who needs your kindness.
Your favorite vice. Shopping! I LOVE to shop and I’ve gotten so much better at it over the years!!
Your favorite occupation. I adore being a Personal Stylist. I can spend hours looking at fashion magazines and fashion websites. I love helping women feel confident about what they are wearing. Also, I’d love to work at Vogue, InStyle, or a top fashion magazine.
Your favorite pasttime. Giving back to the community. I volunteer at Attitudes & Attire in their boutique as an Image Consultant and I facilitate workshops on Interviewing Skills and Professional Dress.
Your chief characteristic. Loyalty.
You’re penning an autobiography… What’s the title? Sometimes a Setback is Your Step Up
Your idea of happiness. Doing what you LOVE! Once I released “fear” and started pursuing purpose, I experienced great fulfillment in life. A happy place for me is spending time with my family. As I’ve grown older (and wiser), I’ve learned to be content and live life to its fullest.
Accessory or item of clothing that holds the most sentimental value? A silver heart bracelet that my mom gave to me several years ago. Every time I wear it, I think of her. She’s such a great woman… so loving and generous.
Your favorite name. Chantay! I don’t really have a nickname, and while I do have a different spelling sometimes (Shantay), there’s a story behind the spelling 😉
If not you, who would you be? I love being me… Everyone else is taken!
What’s in your handbag? Cell phone, business cards, Ice Breaker mints, wallet, vitamins, make-up bag, 3 MAC lipsticks, granola bar, hand sanitizer (can’t leave home without it!), and a Neiman Marcus red note pad!
Your style in three words. Classy, Chic, and sometimes Conservative. It all depends on my mood. I love playing with fashion.
What is your present state of mind? Content. Knowing that all things work together for good.
Your favorite motto? “Live, Love, and Enjoy life to its fullest.”
How do you “Adorn Differently?” I try to see the bright side of every situation. I feel when you have a positive outlook on life, it rubs of on others. Growing up I was taught to see the glass half full and that’s the way I choose to live my life!
