Because it’s the New Year and we’re all RARIN’ to go on our health and fitness goals, let’s meet my first GLAM GAL for 2017, Jenny Dean…
Jenny is a yoga instructor (and one my favorites!) at Hot Body Yoga in Frisco who has been teaching yoga and fitness classes for almost six years. But Jenny wasn’t always a health guru.
Before she had two children, she was a special education teacher for 10 years. Her husband and she decided that it would be best for her to stay at home with their new family and stop teaching in school. But Jenny hadn’t yet found her true purpose.
She took her first yoga class when her oldest, her daughter, was just three months old and Jenny was hooked.
I wanted to do whatever the teacher was doing. She seemed so fulfilled and confident in her own skin. I started the 200 Yoga Teacher training a week after my first class.”
Being a yoga and fitness instructor at various studios, Jenny’s daily routine is extremely active and highly organized. Up early and taking both children to school, Jenny, still a teacher, but with a different curriculum, instructs her morning classes and then works out on her own… either yoga or a CrossFit class.
In the afternoon, she picks up the kids from two different schools where one day a week she teaches Kids Yoga at her son’s school. The other days of the week, she’s either teaching afternoon and early evening classes or she’s running the kids to their activities.
After I put my kids to bed, I go to bed. I believe in sound, quality sleep so that I have enough energy to do all my activities the next day.”
With everything Jenny has going on, her calendar is never empty. With confidence at her core, she’s constantly looking for the things that will help her grow as an instructor and she craves working on new projects. As an official Lululemon Ambassador for yoga in Plano, Jenny loves taking new trainings from teachers across the country.
I believe teaching yoga and fitness classes are my true passion. I believe everyone was designed with a purpose, and our journey is about finding our designed passion and purpose in life. I’m lucky I found mine at a young age, and I’d tell others who have the same health and fitness goals in min, to not give up and live out of love rather than fear.”
So, if you want to get yoga certified like Jenny… DO IT! There’s NEVER a perfect time to take 200 hours out of your already hectic schedule for all the training. But once you decide to, it’s a game changer. You’ll realize you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be and it all works itself out.
Your favorite virtue. Patience. I believe in the motto everything happens for a reason and it will all happen on Gods terms. No matter how much we try to push something, if it’s not the right time to God, it won’t happen.
Your favorite vice. I’m too forgiving. I tend to let a lot roll off my shoulder. That can be good and bad.
Your chief characteristic. I’m very compassionate. I do things based on if it will make others feel good.
Your idea of happiness. When you’re able to be fully present in your everyday life, that’s true happiness for me. We are supposed to live our lives IN the moment and not think about the past or the future. Yet, with our busy technology-based lives, it’s a battle I face every day.
You’re penning an autobiography. The title? “Always Find a Reason to Smile”
What’s in your handbag? My wallet, a make-up bag, Vitamin C packets, and a water bottle… That’s about it.
Your style in 3 words? Easy, comfortable, affordable.
What is your present state of mind? Contentment.
Your favorite motto. “FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT.” You can use this in every context of your life! 😉
How do you “Adorn Differently?” I make sure to smile at every person I see. You never know… you might be the only person that has smiled at them all day.
