For Spring 2017, we’re witnessing several strong ideas… an 80’s resurgence, the sleepwear trend continues, and happy, light-hearted colors that are just plain fun.
From colors that are bright and vivid to those that convey a sense of earthiness, Pantone’s top 10 colors for spring 2017 are reminiscent of the hues that surround us in nature, and they strongly influenced my use of subdued color in the Wendistry spring 2017 collection.
Bringing a mixture of vitality, relaxation, and the great outdoors, our color palette starts from that avocado-reminiscent “Greenery” and its more muted counterpart “Kale” to energetic “Primrose Yellow” and blindingly bright “Pink Yarrow” and “Flame.”
As was expected, blue was once more playing first fiddle bringing about whole 3 shades: the refreshing pale aqua “Island Paradise,” the classic denim-like “Niagara,” and a cobalt intense “Lapis Blue.” But I needed something to mitigate that whole intense vibrancy of the Wendistry collections.
So, this SS17 collection also serves up more neutral and peaceful shades in “Pale Dogwood” and “Hazelnut.” Coming off a fall/winter season that was full of gothic black looks, pink has emerged as the biggest trend for Spring ’17 and it’s infused in 3 of my 5 new SS17 Collection handbags. The message is clear: Real Women Wear Pink.
All handbags, Twilly scarves and men’s pocket-squares debuting next Monday, February 6th!
But to balance all the pink, I also wanted to bring in some “grounding” colors for spring… neutrals, whites, grays, and browns to coordinate with almost any outfit. Neutral colors and delicate shades applied to ultra light materials – like scarves! 😉
From flamboyant and fun-loving, sparkling with heat and vitality, to quiet peaceful shades that create an aura of innocence and purity, the 5 new colorways for the Wendistry SS17 collection are confident, creative, and captivating.
Invoking the warmth of sunny days and the invigorating feeling of breathing fresh mountain air, Wendistry thoughtfully incorporates color in playful, yet precise, combinations to fully capture the promises, hopes, and transformations that we yearn for each Spring.
